How To Listen To A Podcast

For those of you who are new to podcasting, here are a few tips for listening:
First, if you just want to listen to a single episode, simply click on the green link for that particular episode. (If you “hover” your cursor over the link before clicking, you will see that the link is simply a streaming mp3 file.) The file will then open in your favorite media player (windows media player, quicktime, winamp, whatever you have).
You can also right click on the green mp3 file link and save the file to your hard drive for later listening.
The BEST way to keep up with your favorite podcasts is to SUBSCRIBE to them, using Itunes, Yahoo’s Music Engine, or any other podcatcher with this feature. See that Big Orange button over at the right-hand side of this page? That is the rss feed for this site. Put your cursor over it, right click, and select “copy link location”. Now, open up your favorite podcatching program (I use Itunes) and paste the copied link into your podcast folder.
Another easy way to subscribe is the click on the media specific icon on the right (The purple Itunes logo, for instance). This should launch your iTunes software, and you can then chose to subscribe to the podcast. You DO NOT need an iPod or portable mp3 player to listen to podcasts. You can listen to them on your computer, OR you can burn them onto CDs.
Lastly, you can transfer your files to you iPod or other mp3 player. Use iTunes or Yahoo Music Engine or other music file transfer program to do this.
iTunes is free to download and use, and I think it is easily the best program for your podcasting needs. If you have not gotten into podcasting, now is the time!
