Welcome to the Carnival of Debt Reduction: Podcast Edition. First, I’ll create the traditional list of links, and I hope that you will take the time to visit each of the sites that submitted articles. Second, I’ll create an AUDIO re-cap version of this week’s carnival. Please go to the bottom of this post for more information about podcasts and how to listen to them. On to the carnival!
Carnival of Debt Reduction #72: The Links
We’re In Debt discusses the various “debt snowballs”. Will you start with your lowest balance, or your highest interest?
Climbing Out Of Debt talks about the danger of having debt, and not enjoying your career. Is you debt holding you back from making better life choices?
Debt Free with some warnings about debt consolidation loans.
Searchlight Crusade discusses equity, bankruptcy, and more. (Searchlight always has well written, in-depth posts. Great job!)
The Simple Dollar finds a unique strategy for raising more cash for debt repayment. (Hint, it involves getting rid of your Saved By The Bell: The Early Years DVD.)
Queercents posts about the possibility of giving young couples money for debt reduction, instead of expensive wedding gifts. (My father-in-law actually offered my wife and I $10,000 to just elope…)
Debt Be Gone has an update about debt reduction. (By the way, debt reduction blogs that actually talk about DEBT REDUCTION totally rule! Great job!)
Money Smart Life wonders what would happen to the economy if everyone lived without debt. (My answer? In the short term, it would be a bit bumpy. In the long term, it would be awesome.)
Becoming and Staying Debt free with a post about figuring out how much you should allocate in your budget categories. (I like this article, but I was worried about including it. It does not directly talk about debt reduction, but budgeting is SO important, I included it anyway. Unless you know how much you have to spend for debt reduction, you’ll never get out of debt.)
Debt Consolidation Lowdown with a post about staying away from debt consolidation loans.
Mighty Bargain Hunter warns you about finance deals that are “too good to be true”. This is a great read.
Blueprint For Financial Prosperity says that refund anticipation loans are bad news. Guess what? He’s right!
Blogging Away Debt is dealing with an unexpected circumstance which might slowdown debt reduction progress. I LOVE it when a blogger is real, and is speaking from the process instead of from the “mountain of success”. BAD rocks!
My Money Blog talks about tracking expenses. This can be handy as you try to get out of debt.
Mr. Credit Card writes about negotiating with creditors. Good post that I missed the first time around!
(The above posts had a lot (or at least a little) to do with debt reduction or debt management. I received a few more submissions, but they were not focused on debt or debt reduction. If you submitted an article and I did not include it, please use my contact form, and I’ll review your submission. There are other carnivals for “general personal finance posts”. The main thrust of the Carnival of Debt Reduction is.. err.. debt reduction. But, feel free to contact me and convince me that your post belongs. And if you were not included, please don’t feel bad. I’ve had my own posts rejected. Those of us who host the carnivals have a responsibility to include as much quality (on-topic) content as we can. I hope you understand.)
Now we get to unique feature of this week’s carnival. Not only do you have the handy links at the top, but you can also listen to an audio recap. Simply click the link below, and the audio will stream to your computer. Also, you can right-click the link, and save the file to your hard drive. Like what you hear? But, the more you charge, the longer it will take you to pay off your debt completely. If you want to become debt free, you have to stop taking on new debt
